Traditional German Apple Cake

This simple, yet gloriously scrumptious cake is one of the most traditional amongst the many versions of German apple cake.

The original name is "Versunkener Apfelkuchen", meaning "sunken apple cake", because the apples sink into the batter.

It is a light, yet at the same time incredibly moist cake due to the apples. A hint of vanilla and cinnamon give this artisan bake a lovely finish.
