About Me

Hello, I’m Kathrin Bentley, the baker and founder of Bentley Bakes. For me, baking has always been more than just a recipe—it’s about creating something that brings joy, comfort, and connection. Growing up in Germany, I spent many moments in the kitchen with my family, learning the craft of traditional baking and understanding the value of simple, wholesome ingredients.

When I moved to the UK, I knew I wanted to bring a little taste of home with me. That’s how Bentley Bakes began—out of a passion for sharing the comforting flavours of Germany, added with British traditional cakes and treats. I focus on using fresh, fairtrade ingredients without using any additives like emulsifiers, and I put a lot of love in each bake, whether it’s a rustic sourdough loaf, a festive Stollen, or a beautifully spiced Lebkuchen.

Bentley Bakes started as a small home project, but it quickly grew into a local favourite here in Sutton. I’m proud to offer delicious bakes that cater to different tastes and dietary needs, from gluten-free and vegan options to my popular Cream Tea Boxes—an assortment of delicate cakes, buttery scones, and other treats, perfect for a special afternoon.

My goal is simple: to bless people through the power of good food. I believe that every bake should tell a story and bring a little joy to those who taste it, whilst at the same time knowing they eat good quality food.

When I’m not in the kitchen, you’ll find me I create new recipes, reading, drinking a good cup of tea made with loose leaves, and enjoying a nibble of one my of creations myself! I also love how much my two daughters enjoy my bakes and am proud to say that the next generation of sourdough bakers is in the making!
